Set in the gritty underbelly of Nairobi's creative scene, Nairobi Pundit follows Vee, a young woman navigating poverty, exploitation, and survival in a world where fame and financial freedom come at a dangerous cost. Coerced into a risqué photoshoot by Slim, a manipulative photographer and pseudo-manager, Vee struggles with the reality of what it takes to rise above her circumstances. When compromising photos involving a powerful politician, Mhesh, resurface, Vee finds herself entangled in a blackmail plot she never agreed to.
Determined to reclaim her agency, she takes bold action, but a confrontation with Slim turns tragic. As blood is spilled and secrets unravel, two mysterious men arrive at the scene, escalating the stakes and revealing deeper networks of control, silence, and political power.
Nairobi Pundit is a feature-length film commissioned by us to Afro Imagination, exploring the intersection of vulnerability, ambition, and the blurred lines between empowerment and exploitation in modern-day Kenya. At its core, the film boldly tackles the theme of femicide, exposing the systemic forces that silence, endanger, and erase women especially those fighting for agency, survival, and visibility.
